This presentation will examine the rationale behind the use of pharmacological treatment in autism and intellectual disability and the emerging field of deprescribing for unnecessary medication.

In this presentation, Dr. Mottron will argue that when language emerges in autism, its acquisition does not necessarily follow the same route as in typical development.

Autism : differential diagnoses from childhood to adulthood

In this breakout session, Dr. Mottron will expose the heterogeneity of clinical profiles integrated in DSM-5 autism, their developmental transformations, and the role of standardized tools in clinical diagnosis.

Understanding Depression in Autistic Adolescents: Symptoms, Assessment and Treatment

Dr. Kelley will discuss the symptom profile of depression, and explain how depressive episodes may present differently in autistic children and adolescents compared to neurotypical youth.
